Higher Education Volunteer Network (R-VES) was born on October 18, 2019, on the occasion of the 1st International Symposium on Volunteering in Higher Education, at the University of Algarve. Initially 15 Higher Education Institutions signed the collaboration protocol, but currently R-VES has the participation of more than 25 HEIs, including ESSNorteCVP.

What motivates us?
We have knowledge, experience, scientific bases and narratives that the promotion and carrying out of volunteering actions, with which the ambition is not only for one's own benefit, but essentially for supporting the community, is a practice with strong transformative potential for the various actors involved (eg , students, teachers, non-teaching staff, organizations, professionals and beneficiaries).
For this reason, a national structure to promote volunteering in HEIs, which operates as a Network, has the immense potential of offering interested parties moments of sharing, exchanging experiences and knowledge and, also, the possibility of cooperating in national and International.
What do we aim for?
Train, articulate and enhance the activity of Higher Education Institutions for research (HEIs) and valorization of volunteering, in a multidisciplinary approach, which contributes to the promotion of a culture and practice of volunteering, in all its aspects, enhancing the national development.
Promote coordination and articulation between HEIs to share good practices in the context of promoting volunteering, covering the aspects of research, intervention and dissemination at national and international level, contributing to the affirmation of Portugal as a reference in this field of performance.
R-VES projects
According to the 2019-2021 Strategic Plan (under approval), it is intended to develop projects over the next two years according to the following areas of activity:
Diagnose volunteering practices in HEIs:
1.1. Develop a tool to survey volunteering practices in HEIs;
1.2 Promote a moment of sharing volunteering practices and experiences between HEIs.
Diagnose volunteer management practices in HEIs:
2.1. Develop a tool to survey volunteer management practices in HEIs;

Recognize and publicize the practice of volunteering in HEIs:
3.1. Prepare the regulations for awarding a prize for volunteering in HEIs through the attribution of the “R-VES Volunteer of the Year” Prize;
3.2. Promote dissemination through the creation of a website dedicated solely to volunteering at HEIs, a newsletter and social networks (eg, Facebook, Twitter).
