During 2019, in collaborative work with representatives from 30 HEIs, including ESSNorteCVP, the recommendations of the Green Book on Social Responsibility (published in 2018) were analyzed and the self-assessment tool was designed with the 34 Social Responsibility Indicators now presented at the IRSIES Conference . The publication was authored by Professor Joana Lobo Fernandes (ESEC-IPCoimbra) and Professor Susana Fonseca (ISCTE-IUL), the coordinators of the ORSIES working group.
The Prof. Pedro Dominguinhos, as representative of the CCISP, and Prof. Miguel Copetto, as a representative of APESP, commented on the publication presented and the work developed by HEIs that are members of ORSIES, reinforcing their seriousness and rigor, the importance of different institutions working together and placing a topic such as social responsibility on the public agenda and politics, and the importance of each institution objectively valuing the initiatives it develops, with the clear commitment of the entire organization and assuming social responsibility as a strategic guideline.
The Secretary of State for Higher Education, João Sobrinho Teixeira, in the closing session, reinforced the importance of institutions going beyond intentions with regard to social responsibility, and the work developed by ORSIES allows for an objective assessment of what really is implemented and to clearly identify the priorities that each institution should assume in its strategic decisions.

The Book "Social Responsibility Indicators and Higher Education Institutions" was publicly presented on December 14, 2020, through an online Conference with the participation of 130 people from various higher education institutions in the country.

Social Responsibility Indicators Book

The Book presents the self-assessment tool for social responsibility indicators, based on the recommendations of the Green Book. This document is the culmination of the collaborative work of 30 HEIs, which was coordinated by Dr. Joana Lobo Fernandes (ESEC-IPCoimbra) and Dr. Susana Fonseca (ISCTE-IUL).
In this way, ESSNorteCVP accepted the invitation to fulfill its effective commitment to the community it serves, integrating ORSIES as a founding member, seeking to respond, in an active and participatory way, to the challenges proposed by this network. This network, among thirty higher education institutions, aims to contribute to the reinforcement of active citizenship, social cohesion and personal fulfillment, in order to consolidate advances in different areas of knowledge to transform today's society into a true society of knowledge and participation , with a spirit of solidarity and social concerns.
