With the publication of Decree-Law No. 155/2017, of December 28, the Escola Superior de Enfermagem da Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa de Oliveira de Azeméis was renamed Escola Superior de Saúde Norte da Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa (ESSNorteCVP).
ESSNorteCVP is a non-integrated Polytechnic Higher Education Institution, in the Municipality of Oliveira de Azeméis, whose Instituting Entity is the Portuguese Red Cross.
The educational project is oriented towards human and civic training, professional achievement, socio-cultural integration, personalized and comprehensive training; professional achievement; sociocultural integration; initial training and professional development; lifelong learning; scientific-technological training and cultural, artistic and sporting training, with reference to the principles of the Red Cross, International Humanitarian Law and the Geneva Convention and additional protocols, as well as the promotion of health and well-being policies that contribute to a salutogenic academic context.
Also the formalization of cooperation protocols with entities in the area of higher education, education, health and other entities representing the community, national and foreign, in providing training and mobility of students and teachers, constitute development and promotion strategies continuous improvement in the quality of teaching.
ESSNorteCVP grants, in accordance with its Statutes and current legislation:
- Academic Degrees of Bachelor and Master;
- Higher Professional Technical Diploma;
- Other certificates or diplomas that do not confer an academic degree, proving the training undertaken, namely postgraduate or specialization courses and continuing training;
- Academic degrees and diplomas referring to courses developed in association with other higher education establishments, national or foreign, for which it is competent to award them;
- Titles and honorary distinctions.
Its mission is also to carry out applied research, provide services to the community in the field of health, grant equivalence and recognition of academic degrees and qualifications and also value skills acquired by students throughout their lives, in accordance with the terms of the law.
It develops its activity based on a Strategic Development Plan and an annual activity plan and budget, approved by the founding entity.
ESSNorteCVP has a Certificate of Compliance with the Quality Management System NP EN ISO 9001:2015, within the scope of higher nursing education. Research and development in the scientific area of nursing. Design, development and execution of continuous training, having maintained, since 2004, the continuity of the annual renewal of its Certification.
