-Contribute to the development of skills common to all specialist nurses, specifically in the fields of professional, ethical and legal responsibility, continuous quality improvement, care management and the development of professional learning, with special focus on evidence-based practice;
-Contribute to the training of nurses with skills for the production and application of advanced scientific knowledge, as well as for autonomous, reflective decision-making based on the best evidence;
-Develop skills that allow nurses to learn throughout life in a self-guided or autonomous way.
May apply for the course holders of the following academic qualifications:
a) Holders of a Licensed Degree or legally equivalent qualification in Nursing;
b) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree, conferred following a first cycle of studies in Nursing, organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna process by countries adhering to this process;
c) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree in Nursing, recognized in Portugal, under the terms of Decree-Law no. 283/83, of 21 June, Decree-Law no. 341/2007, of 12 October and the Decree-Law n.º 66/2018, of August 16th and which, cumulatively, meet the following additional requirements:
i) Holders of the professional title of nurse;
ii) Have at least 2 years of professional experience as a nurse.
The course promotes the acquisition of skills defined by the Order of Nurses for Specialist Nurses in Rehabilitation Nursing, highlighting ethical skills, relational skills and highly complex technical skills.

- Develop professional, ethical and legal practice in the area of specialty, acting in accordance with legal norms, ethical principles and professional ethics;
- Ensure a dynamic role in the development and support of institutional strategic initiatives in the area of clinical governance;
- Adapt leadership and resource management to situations and context, aiming to guarantee the quality of care;
- To care for people with special needs throughout the life cycle, in all settings of care practice;
- To enable the disabled person, with activity limitation and / or restriction of participation for reintegration and citizenship;
- Maximize functionality developing the capabilities of the person;
- To ground specialized clinical practice in scientific evidence;
- Evaluate the importance of quantitative and qualitative studies for rehabilitation nursing research.
