The teaching methodology will follow an expository and participatory method, focused on the student. We will conduct exercises related to the identification and characterization of biological molecules and microorganisms, interpretation of analytical data, and resolution of simulated clinical cases, applied to the scientific area of Nursing and related to the subjects of Biochemistry and Microbiology, promoting the analysis of data and debate of ideas amongst the students. Continuous assessment will consist of: 1st midterm exam (Biochemistry) – 50 % + 2nd midterm exam (Microbiology) – 50 %.
- Identify the diversity, structure and function of biomolecules
- Describe the chemical and metabolic processes that occur in the living organisms and their importance
- Analyse and interpret biochemical data relevant to the provision of nursing care
- Differentiate useful microorganisms from pathogens and characterize the different groups of microorganisms
- Identify the diseases caused by pathogens, pathways and factors of transmission, and mechanisms of immune response
- Analyse and interpret microbiological data relevant to the provision of nursing care
Identify antimicrobial agents and understand the methods of sterilization, antisepsis and disinfection aiming at a safe working environment
