The teaching methodology will be based on oral presentation and using multimedia, promoting dialogue and discussion, thus streamlining the pedagogical action. Exercises will be held in theoretical-practical classes to apply the concepts acquired in theoretical classes. Practical laboratory experience will be provided.
The evaluation will have one components with the following weighting:Midterm exam: 100%.
It is intended to provide a concise description of the basic principles of toxicology and the assessment of the potential health risks as well as the risks associated with exposure to certain chemicals. Understanding the fundamental principles of toxicology and the different aspects related to specific toxicity in each organ will be discussed. Mutagenesis and genetic toxicity as well as chemical carcinogenesis will also be discussed. One of the objectives of this curricular unit is to present the toxicological aspects related to some occupational and environmental activities. Understand the properties and toxicity related to metals, pesticides, toxins and poisons. In the practical component will be realized experiences that allow to acquire practical skills and to consolidate some of the theoretical concepts.
