Hygiene and Safety in Clinical Practice

The teaching methodologies used in the Hygiene and Safety curricular unit in clinical practice are of an expository and participatory nature using the demonstration, giving rise to debates on the topics presented, discussion of cases, elaboration of work and problem-solving tasks in the classroom of class. The evaluation will consist of a 100% frequency, whose formula will consist of a theoretical component with a weighting of 60% and individual work component of 40% (to be delivered on the day of the frequency).

Objetivos de Unidade Curricular

It is expected that the student acquire basic knowledge about in the labor framework and legislation on OSH, as well as knowing your subject matter. The student must evaluate and identify occupational hazards in the workplace. The student must also understand the principles of a culture of prevention, developing safe behavior on safety, hygiene and health at work, the student should know name preventive measures and ways of implementation in the work place, as well as identify causes and consequences accidents at work and occupational diseases.

Introduction to safety and health at work: Safety fundamentals: legal aspects;
Organization of safety and health at work;
Concept of different types of occupational risks; Occupational risk management; Accidents at work.
Biosafety. Biological, chemical and physical safety. Safety in clinical practice.
Reduction of risk. Collective security and individual security. Collective and individual protection systems and equipment.
Safety marking: selection, installation and maintenance criteria.
Waste Management.
Principles of risk assessment. Methods of risk assessment.
Creation of a checklist for hazard assessment and risk assessment, as well as analysis of preventive measures in the context of clinical practice.
Elaboration of risk assessment map.
Analysis and interpretation of practical cases.
