The creation of the cycle of studies in Acupuncture reaffirms the School's vision and its positioning as a higher education institution of national and international reference, aiming to:
(1) reinforce recognition for the quality of collaborative and innovative, creative and enterprising teaching, in a changing global space, oriented towards the new needs of the labor market, lifelong learning, culture, arts and sport;
(2) expand research and development of good practices, with extension and articulation with the academic, regional, national and international community, assuming itself as a strategic partner in the field of interdisciplinary research;
(3) maintain recognition as a sustainable School, through its spirit of volunteerism, social responsibility, commitment to the future of its students, dynamic networks with national and international institutions in the educational and business fields, as well as the adoption of ecological behaviors sustainable;
(4) be recognized as a salutogenic Higher Education Institution, through a multidisciplinary and mobilized action by the entire educational community, for interventions to promote health and well-being with an extension to the community and with an effective impact of its intervention projects.

The qualification enables its holder to apply to authorization to professional practice in acupuncture, to be issued by the Administração Central do Sistema de Saúde (Central Administration of the Health System).

Train acupuncturists who respond to the needs of the individual and the community and who demonstrate skills for a safe and quality professional performance, regulated by Ordinance 17-C/2015, of June 5, and by the World Health Organization.
It is intended that students acquire skills in the training components: fundamental sciences, clinical sciences and techniques, principles and practice of acupuncture and in the fields of communication, research, ethics and deontology and applicable legislation. This articulation aims to promote the transfer of knowledge within a framework of professional autonomy based on evidence, decision-making, evaluation, diagnosis and selection of therapeutic approaches based on personal and professional development. Students should develop relational, ethical and deontological skills in order to integrate multidisciplinary teams, respecting hygiene and safety rules, approaching the user in a holistic and integrative way.
