Métodos de ensino

Theoretical classes aim to develop students' knowledge so that they can apply clinical reasoning in physical therapy planning and intervention. In the theoretical-practical classes, students will discuss intervention plans, problem solving and analysis of clinical cases related to the themes in the content program.


Objetivos de Unidade Curricular

  • Acquire knowledge in the field of anatomy, physiology and cardiovascular and respiratory pathology and understand their different clinical aspects;
  • Acquire knowledge in the field of cardiovascular and respiratory physiotherapy assessment;
  • Acquire knowledge in order to set short- and long-term goals;
  • Acquire knowledge for the development of physiotherapy intervention plans in cardio-respiratory conditions;
  • Acquire knowledge about respiratory physiotherapy intervention techniques in different contexts.
  • Mobilize scientific and technical knowledge to solve problems in order to make decisions and substantiate them, given the clinical situations of users with cardiac and respiratory dysfunction or at risk of developing them

Programa

  • Review of the main aspects of the anatomy and physiology of the respiratory system;
  • Identify the etiology, epidemiology and risk factors of major clinical conditions;
  • Describe the signs and symptoms;
  • Define probable prognoses;
  • Carry out the subjective examination (interview and main parameters to be considered);
  • Carry out the objective examination (vital signs and others, observation, inspection, pulmonary auscultation, tests of respiratory function, blood gas, effort tolerance, muscle strength, balance;
  • Verify and interpret the data acquired in the exams (outside/inside the norm);
  • Describe and apply different measuring instruments;
  • Perform differential diagnosis in physical therapy.
