The Degree in Physiotherapy in partnership with the Escola Superior de Saúde da Cruz Vermelha – Alto Tâmega, complies with the recommendations of the Order of Physiotherapists (Reference for Initial Training - Order of Physiotherapists), has a duration of 4 years, a total of 240 ECTS . The Study Plan is designed according to the best international education methodologies.
The learning objectives are oriented towards the development of skills that aim to provide students with knowledge that facilitates a better understanding of concepts and principles that enable autonomy in clinical practice and person-centered decision-making, for the development of critical-reflective thinking, updating of knowledge through self-training, dissemination of research results and progressive autonomy throughout the training cycle and the health profile of the population at every moment.
With the completion of this Degree in Physiotherapy, the future physiotherapist develops a clinical practice centered on the analysis and evaluation of movement and posture, based on the structure and function of the body, using specific educational and therapeutic modalities, based essentially on human movement, in manipulative therapies and in physical and natural means, with the purpose of promoting health and preventing disease, disability, incapacity and maladjustment and treating, qualifying or rehabilitating individuals with physical, mental, developmental or other disorders , including pain, with the aim of helping individuals achieve maximum functionality and quality of life. All clinical education will be based on emerging evidence.
Admission to the 1st Cycle of Studies can be made through the General Access Regime, Special Access Regimes and Special Competitions.
The degree is recognized by the Order of Physiotherapists. The professional title of Physiotherapist requires registration with the Order of Physiotherapists.

- Technical, scientific and human competences, for the exercise of the profession, to integrate the labor market in the context of multidisciplinary health teams, where clinical reasoning, autonomous decision-making, practice-based on evidence and communication, are fundamental for the exercise of the profession and for lifelong learning;
- Capacities to deal with sociodemographic dynamics and changes, with influence on the population's health-disease binomial and to promote a highly qualified and differentiated intervention, centered on the person/family, with an impact on reducing the time and number of hospitalizations, accelerating the process of family, professional and social reintegration in response to current health needs;
- Spirit, in defense of the values and principles of the Red Cross, differentiating elements in community intervention and health promotion;
- Ability to cooperate with national and foreign institutions.
