Métodos de ensino

The teaching methodologies are diverse and include: expository classes, debates of the topics presented, study case discussions, critical analysis of texts or scientific papers and problem-solving tasks in the class.
The evaluation includes two midterm exams (50% + 50%).


Objetivos de Unidade Curricular

- Know about the history of psychoneuroimmunology;

- Know its object of study;

- Know the global effects of anxiety and stress in immune processes and in general health;

- Understand the integrated relationship between the immune system, the endocrine system and the nervous system;

- Identify the neuro-endocrine effects on immunity, immune effects on the nervous system and the behavioral effects on immunity;

- Relate the principles of psychoneuroimmunology with osteopathy and apply them.

Introduction to Psychoneuroimmunology: subject of study and historical perspective;

Relation between immunologic system, endocrine system and nervous system:

      - neuro-endocrine effects on immunity;

      - immunity effects on nervous system;

      - Behavior effects on immunity;

Stress and anxiety;

Psychoneuroimmunology and pathophysiology;

The Psychoneuroimmunology fundaments in Osteopathy.
