Specificities
Candidates with a Foreign Higher Education Course , Degree Lecturer , who at the date of application do not have academic recognition (recognition or equivalence) of the degree in Portugal and who compete under the provisions of paragraph a) of paragraph 2 of article 2. of the regulation, they must also present the following additional documents:
- Diploma proving ownership of the foreign degree or diploma, stating the final classification (original and certified copy);
- Document, issued by the competent entities of the foreign higher education institution, stating the subjects in which the applicant passed and which led to obtaining the degree or diploma, with the respective final classification (original and certified copy);
- Study plan attended (original and certified copy);
- Syllabus, with course loads and number of ECTS (if applicable), duly authenticated by the higher education institution (original and certified copy);
- A copy of the dissertation/thesis/monograph/course conclusion work considered independently in the study plan, if any, duly authenticated by the higher education institution — must contain a statement describing the work carried out to obtain the degree, signed by the person responsible /advisor/Services by the higher education institution of origin and sealed or stamped by the University of origin;
- Declaration issued by the National Academic Recognition Information Center (NARIC) Portugal attesting to the level of the foreign higher education course and institution and the higher education grading scale, if different from the Portuguese one.
Documents issued by foreign higher education institutions must be recognized by the local Portuguese consular agent and/or legalized by the Apostille system under the terms of the Convention on the Abolition of the Requirement for the Legalization of Foreign Public Acts (better known as the Hague Convention), signed in The Hague, on October 5, 1961.
According to the regulation, the documents in paragraphs b) to e) are only required in the case of seeking credits, and original documents and certified copies thereof must be delivered, and once the credit analysis process is complete, the original documents will be returned to the its holder.
